ACT CBT&A Logbook Driving Lessons

Learn in a dual-control automatic car with GoWest’s ACT-accredited instructor. We provide one-to-one logbook lessons across Belconnen, Gungahlin and Inner North Canberra, tailored to the skills you need to develop.

How the ACT logbook method works

CBT&A stands for Competency Based Training and Assessment. Your accredited instructor teaches and assesses 23 driving competencies over a series of lessons, recording your progress in the ACT logbook. You practise, receive feedback and demonstrate each skill safely and consistently before it is signed off.

Completing CBT&A replaces the government practical driving assessment. You must still meet the learner licence period, supervised driving hours and Hazard Perception Test requirements. Check the current requirements with Access Canberra.

Logbook lesson prices and assessments

A 1-hour automatic lesson costs $90. Packages include 5 × 1-hour lessons for $435 and 10 × 1-hour lessons for $825. The 60-minute ACT CBT&A review and final-drive appointment is $90. See all prices, package validity and booking terms.

Your progress determines how many lessons you need; buying a package does not guarantee completion. Bring your learner licence and ACT logbook. If you are transferring from another instructor, contact GoWest before booking an assessment.
